What is Craniosacral Therapy?

Craniosacral therapy is a profound but gentle therapy using a very light touch.

A healthy body expresses a natural rhythmic motion.  Accidents, injuries, stresses and emotional problems can affect this rhythm causing 'blockages' in the body.

These restrictions may, in turn, cause disturbances to health.  Using a light touch on the body, the therapist can detect these restrictions and help to release them so that the body can begin to heal itself, to restore health and balance.

A treatment session lasts about an hour and is given fully clothed, usually lying on your back on a treatment couch.  Gentle contacts are made on the head, base of spine and other areas of the body. Most people find the treatment very relaxing.

As the treatment is so gentle, it is suitable for all ages - from newborn babies to the elderly.  It can be used for specific conditions or equally as a maintenance treatment to help keep the system oriented towards health.

Craniosacral therapy can be helpful for almost any conditions, a few examples being:

  • musculoskeletal conditions

  • stress and anxiety

  • headaches

  • general wellbeing

  • digestive problems

  • lack of energy

  • asthma

  • tinnitus

  • complications in pregnancy

  • colic, reflux and sleep problems in babies
